Chairman Message

My Dear Engineers,

Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) is a statutory regulatory body established in 1976 under an Act of Parliament to regulate the engineering profession across the country and performing its functions as an autonomous body with the vision that the engineering profession shall function as a key driving force for achieving rapid and sustainable growth in all national, economic and social fields. In line with the vision of the Government of Pakistan, PEC is striving utmost to improve quality of engineering education, accreditation and professional system, synchronizing with best international standards and practices recognized by prestigious engineering Institutions/ Accords and Organizations. PEC  has  made  concerted  and international  visibility,  therefore,  entered  into  various  international  Accords/ Agreements like

In line with the vision of the Government of Pakistan, PEC is striving utmost to improve quality of engineering education, accreditation and professional system, synchronizing with best international standards and practices recognized by prestigious engineering Institutions/ Accords and Organizations. PEC has made concerted and international visibility, therefore, entered into various international Accords/ Agreements like Washington Accord (WA), International Professional Engineers Agreement (IPEA), Federation of Engineering Institutions of Asia and the Pacific (FEIAP), Federation of Engineering Institutions of Islamic Countries (FEIIC), AAP-Council, and Network of Accreditation Bodies for Engineering Education in Asia (NABEEA) for the betterment of engineering profession in totality for the Country; where PEC is learning and contributing in their executive forums as leading partner. PEC is also extending professional consultancy/ mentoring to number of developing economies striving to elevate their engineering standards to join international Forums/ Accords.

PEC is also extending professional consultancy/ mentoring to number of developing economies striving to elevate their engineering standards to join international Forums/ Accords.

After brief introduction of PEC vision and its international presence, let me express my heartfelt gratitude to engineering community for extending their overwhelming support during PEC Governing Body Election (2021-24) and placing their trust in me and my team. We will continue to work as a team of diverse background and qualified professionals to address the challenges being faced for uplifting the entire engineering profession to promote rapid growth in economic as well as social fields in Pakistan, as mandated by PEC Act & Byelaws.

In our tenure, PEC focus areas will include developing Unified Entry System for inducting quality intake, modernization of engineering curriculum (OBE model) to enhance skills and competency standards, recognizing best Final Year Design Projects (FYDPs) with awards involving industrial/ societal problems, Paid Internship/ On-Job Training (OJT) program for fresh engineers, encouraging entrepreneurship activities/ programs to create jobs and services, strong collaboration with Pakistan Academy of Engineering (PAE) for capacity building of engineering institutions, engineers and serving as policy & research platform, pursuing Service Structure and Technical Allowance for engineers, promoting innovation, research and product development, introducing major reforms in construction industry regulations, engineering works/ departments to be headed by competent engineers, resumption of credibility of engineering profession, thereby implementation of PEC given mandate through above initiatives leading ultimately towards the socio-economic development of society and beloved homeland.

PEC Governing Body is the principal executive authority of the Council and comprises of high profile members from both public & private sectors. We’ll put PEC organizational potential and resources to the best possible use within the given mandate and to make our engineering community proud of their decision for electing the current Governing Body to fulfil the given mandate. I would like to appreciate the efforts of the outgoing Governing Body (2018-21) and their initiatives taken for the development of the engineering profession.

Having been a Member of National Assembly of Pakistan I was part of the Parliament, for nearly 4 years. I will be the voice of engineers in all higher forums to raise the prioritized issues including the long pending service structure of engineers for an earliest redressal by the Government.

During my tenure as Chairman of this Council, I will be looking forward for your professional input/ feedback and valuable support in the manner you have always been extending to me for the overall betterment of engineering profession and fraternity.
